About the Arts Programme
Zindagi Trust reforms government schools in Pakistan. We took over SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School and Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Girls School and rebuilt them from the inside out — including something government curricula rarely fund: a serious art programme.
Why art
For a girl who has been told her whole life to be quiet, a canvas is the first place she is asked what she thinks. Our students learn drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and photography as timetabled subjects, taught by practising artists.
What your donation funds
Art materials for a full academic year, salaries for specialist art teachers, annual exhibitions where students meet collectors and, for the girls who want to go further, portfolio support for art-school applications.
From first brushstroke to exhibition
Foundations
Drawing, colour and observation. Every girl works in a sketchbook that stays hers.
Choosing a medium
Painting, ceramics, printmaking or photography — taught by practising artists.
Making the work
Each student develops finished pieces, with critique sessions along the way.
The exhibition
Work is hung properly, with wall labels, and shown to families and collectors.
